This is a healthy spell to do when desiring to remove an old lover or friend (and/or feelings for them) from your life. Supplies needed:
frankincense oil
lemon balm oil
dried lavender flowers
sea salt
a photo of yourself
a photo of your former lover or friend
a white candle (to represent yourself)
a brown candle (to represent your old friend or lover)
Work on a flat surface. On the photo of yourself, write your name. Turn the photo ¼ turn clockwise and on top of your name, write “I free myself.” Dab a bit of the frankincense oil on each corner of the photo, and over what you’ve written. Place a pinch of lavender on the center of the photo, then fold it to seal in the lavender. Put the photo aside for now.
Write your former lover or friend’s name on their photo, then turn the photo ¼ turn counter-clockwise, and over their name, write, “I release you from my life.” Dab a bit of the lemon balm oil on each corner of the photo, and over what is written. As you do this, say:
“I cut ties with you, (person’s name). Your path has led you away from me, and mine away from you. You no longer hold any power over me, nor does any connection exist between us any longer.”
Place a pinch of salt on the photo to gently cleanse their influence out of your life. Then fold the photo in half away from you. Turn it ¼ turn counter-clockwise and fold it away from you once more. Set it aside.
Carve your name into the white candle that represents you, then anoint it with the frankincense oil. Place this candle on top of the folded photo of yourself, facing toward the left (the side with your name facing outward). Now, take the brown candle and carve the person’s name into it. On the other side of the candle write “I cut ties with you.” Anoint this candle with the lemon balm oil, again to cleanse away the negativity that this person brought into your life. Place this candle on top of their folded photo, the side with their name facing the opposite direction of your candle.
You should now have two candles, sitting atop their respective photos, facing away from one another.
Light the white candle and say,
“I light this flame to encourage healing and to help myself move on.” (or whatever you feel is appropriate)
Light your ex-lover or friend’s candle while saying,
“I release you, (person’s name). Your fate leads you elsewhere, far away from here and out of my life. I cut ties with you.” (or, again, whatever you feel is appropriate)
Allow the candles to burn themselves out. Dispose of the brown candle (bury it, throw it out, etc) once it’s extinguished.
